Add Some Magic...To Your Parenting

It's almost Halloween. This time of year can be scary for even the bravest little ones.
Ghosts, goblins, witches, and monsters all seem to be everywhere, from the stores to our homes. Most little ones also go through periods of time where they may have nightmares or night terrors-any time of the year. Many fear the monster in the closet or the boogie man under the bed. Some have a fear of the dark. Helping your little ones through these times can be a challenge for any parent, so why not try adding some magic to your parenting? Here are some ways to help empower your little ones to sleep better at night (and if they are sleeping better, so will YOU!)...
Having a special bedtime routine can work wonders for little ones. Oftentimes, the real fear for little ones is fear of the unknown. Consistency can help alleviate these fears by giving them something they can count on, therefore taking away the scary unknown.
Reading a story together and bedtime prayers can be a magical ways to add consistency and bonding to a bedtime routine. We called our bedtime prayer, our “Magick Words” and we would say them every night together. Stories can be very magical! The Adam Sandler movie, Bedtime Stories, comes to mind. Try letting your little one tell you a story. Little ones have wonderful amazing imaginations!
Incorporating some Magick Monster Spray into your bedtime routine is a fun way to get rid of the monster in the closet or the boogie man under the bed. Just spray some around your little one's room, while your little one says something like, “ Do as I say, Monsters stay away! I am safe night and day.” This will empower them and let them feel more in control of their surroundings. Magick Monster Spray is made from essential oils like lavendar, that also helps little ones to relax. I used this with my children and now my grandchildren use it too. If you would like to try some of my Magick Monster Spray, you can learn more about it and buy it here.

Adding crystals and gemstones to your little one's room can also help them relax and sleep better. Some good ones are; Amethyst (helps with nightmares, brings the room into balance and dispels negativity), Chrysoprase (calming and helps with nightmares), Clear Quartz (deflects negativity), Hematite (provides protection and courage), Jade (soothing and inspirational), and Rose Quartz (soothes anxiety and fear). Try letting your little one pick out their own special magical stone to keep in their bedroom.
Having a visit from the House Fairy can give little ones something to be excited about and to focus on instead of scary things. Just think how excited little ones are when they get their first visit from the tooth fairy! The House Fairy is kind of like the Tooth Fairy. What I did when my youngest daughter was little, was to write (or type) a letter, left it on her bedside table, and sprinkled it with glitter from the house fairy. The letter explains that she has decided to visit your little one and that if their bedroom is clean when she visits, then she will leave them a little gift. If it's not, then she will leave some of her fairy dust (glitter) so they will know that she was there. It is a wonderful way to use positive reinforcement to get little ones to clean up after themselves! Our house fairy would visit at least once a week, but you can do this as often as you like, just be sure to do it on different days so that the little ones don't start to know when she's coming and only clean their rooms on those days! And do it at least a couple of times when their room isn't clean and they only get fairy dust. I would just buy a bunch of little toys or trinkets and have them on hand. It does not need to be expensive or big. You could even use money (like the tooth fairy), but I found that my daughter was more excited to get a small gift. If you would like more information, the original idea for this came from here-https://www.housefairy.org/ (I am not affiliated this site at all, I just thought it was a great idea!)
Above all, be creative and have fun! Get in touch with your own inner child! Parenting can be challenging, but it can also be fun, so add some magic to your parenting!
Love and Light,
Jess
